I'm sure I will draw the ire of many fans of The Rock-afire Explosion by quoting the opening line of The Rolfe and Earle Show, which ran on stage right at ShowBiz Pizza Place restaurants while the Concept Unification stage conversion was underway. However, just like after Concept Unification, I believe that many will notice some "groovy changes", and "some new faces here at ShowBiz" as well.

A lot has gone on here in the last month. The most obvious change is that the ShowBiz Pizza Wiki has a new look to it. The design is reminiscent of the "Phase 1" remodels of ShowBiz and Chuck E. Cheese stores that were completed in the late 1980s. That remodel created a more open space by opening up new windows in the wall between the show room and the game room, replacement of darker hues throughout with brighter colors and a colorful border near the ceiling, and the introduction of skill games to the game room. The wiki also has a new logo, adapting the classic ShowBiz Pizza Place logo to that end.

Beyond this splashy new color scheme, work to reverse the effects of a three-year period where no maintenance was being performed here is beginning to bear fruit. There is a brand new article and project categorization scheme in place, content standards have been implemented, many articles have been cleaned up substantially, and nonsense articles have been deleted. We also have a new administrator at the helm to ensure that the wiki remains in tip top shape: me! Through the Wikia adoption process, I requested and was granted administrator and bureaucrat access, which gives me the tools to keep bad content out.

Much of what the ShowBiz Pizza Wiki needs right now, though, is work in developing its policies. The Attribution and Neutral point of view policies go a long way in determining what sorts of content belongs and what doesn't, and in setting standards for the sourcing that our articles use. However, defining the scope of our project is the most important thing we need to determine at this point. This determines the topics and areas where we should spend our time doing research, and where we hand off to other projects to do. See ShowBiz Pizza Wiki talk:Scope to participate in that discussion, as there are many questions that remain unanswered on how we should proceed.

So I believe that we have our work cut out for ourselves. It's going to be a long and difficult task to make this wiki the world-class knowledge base that it has the potential to be. And as this is a wiki, to loosely quote Rolfe DeWolfe, "And if you don't like what you see, then [give it] a nose job, or a cleft in [its] chin, or something, I don't know..."
